Timbuktu was noted as a trade center located in North Africa at the southern edge of the Sahara desert. The city was a treacherous place and many ill fates awaited those that traveled here.
But there was noted one place where travelers could go and feast on a meal that would carry them for many days. And here they could seek protection from the many perils that lie ahead. No one knows how he got there, but in the back room of this small dark building was a creature so terrifying that those that saw him would scream out in fear. The legend goes on to say that if you have a good heart and wished no evil on those around you, you could pet the creature and enjoy good fortune for four days and four nights.
If, however, you had an evil heart, the creature would devour you on the spot. The creature was named ‘Buk’.
And out on the patio of Andover’s Timbuktu, stands Buk; ready to bless you with good fortune for four days and four nights. All you have to do is pat his head.
That is, of course, if you have no evil intentions…….
